GK1

Abstract:

In this sociological reflection, Dr. GUAN Kai argues that confrontations between life and death, between nature and humanity, that are taking place in the COVID-19 crisis are challenging societies to re-evaluate modern life. Emerging from the pandemic, societies around the globe can expect to see renovations not only in public health and health care systems, but also in knowledge, concepts, organizations, social actions and daily lifestyles. Serving as catalysts for more lasting social change, COVID-19 experiences may provoke a rethinking of our relationship to nature as more salient than politics. Please join this conversation as Dr. Guan shares both his analytical insights and also his observations of living through the pandemic in China.
